ABOUT ME (shuler)
Based in Mechanicsburg, PA
Hey! I’m Ryan! Thank ya for checking out the site! I’ve had a passion for capturing images my entire life. The original spark came when I was six years old and I watched the behind the scenes for Curse of the Black Pearl for the first time. I asked my parents what a director was and told them that’s what I’m gonna do when I grow up. I assumed they were relieved at that moment since prior to film, my aspirational career goal was to become a janitor (the janitors at my kindergarten were so cool).
From there I struggled as a jobless elementary schooler. I couldn’t make films with actors, I didn’t have any equipment, but I did have my Mom’s point and shoot camera. After watching a handful of Stop Motion videos on this new site called Youtube, I realized I could tell stories using my action figures and Legos. So for a couple years I made silly 30 second stop motion videos with my friends from school. The second spark came when I managed to get one of my shorts played on the morning announcements. It blew my mind that something I made was shown in front of the whole school… I was hooked.
I watched as many movies as I could, doing as little school work as I could in the process. I saved up some money and bought my friend’s old camera off them and we were in business. This time around I was filming ads for the school magazine. These promotional videos could be whatever we wanted. For the first time I had hundreds of people seeing my work and coming up to me wanting to talk about the newest video.
Post high school I knew I wanted to pursue my passion, but I couldn’t just find “BIG TIME DIRECTOR” on LinkedIn. My part time job wanted some promotional photos for their Instagram page and my one friend knew a Dog Trainer who was building up their social media prescience. That’s when I fell in love with photography. I could tell as many stories as I wanted through single images. I got to meet many wonderful new people and help to capture precious life moments. I wanted to learn more about photography, so I attended AMP and graduated in 2022.
Post AMP I’ve done Weddings, Family Events, Comedy Shows, Music Videos, and much more. All the while I’ve been making short films with my partner Taylor and my friend Jack. I couldn’t be more proud of the success of the channel so far and I’m excited to see what the future holds for both sides of my career.
